Five Things
Five Things I Wish Someone Would of Told me About Taking Care of a Baby,
While I love Jameson and having a baby around, there are a few things that I wish all of the baby books or other people would have mentioned. While these aren’t big things, the things that can be annoying and sometimes a little frustrating. This isn’t a complete list and it could go on forever I’m sure. But these are my top five things I wish I would have been told when having a baby.
1. Zippers instead of buttons! When you are shopping for clothes you see all of these outfits you want to put your son or daughter into. And as a new parent, you aren’t realizing that at every diaper change (which there is a lot of them) you will have to undo and redo all of those buttons. And doing them in the middle of the night on almost no sleep is not a good time. I can tell you Jameson’s clothes that had buttons were not always buttoned properly.
2. When changing a boy, you have to point the penis down in the diaper, otherwise, there will be pee everywhere. Not one of the baby books I read mentioned this. And if you are reading this and you have a new baby boy, make sure that you point that penis down. When you are sleep deprived and on the tenth diaper change of the day, and you just want to do it as fast as possible so you can get a quick nap in, remember to make sure that penis is pointed down. If not, the next diaper change will also mean a new outfit.
3. The baby will kick you out of the bed. Somehow this tiny little being that only weighs like 12 pounds will take up your entire king-size bed. I’m not sure if it’s because on some unconscious level you try to give them more room while you are napping, or maybe they are somehow gaining super strength and just push you out, but whatever it is. I wish someone would have told me.
4. The amount of puke that will come out of the baby. I know babies puke, but the sheer amounts of it. And along with that how many times a day they will have to be changed and how many times a day you will have to change. I don’t own enough clothes for how often I would have to change my shirt or pants because I would get thrown upon.
5. The last for me isn’t a thing he does. It’s more about the sheer amount of love you end up having for this tiny little human. Like I would do anything for him.
Let me know in the comments what it is you wish someone would have told you before having your first baby.
