Looking for a New House, Again.
Looking for a New House, Again.
We found THE house we really wanted. But our offer wasn’t chosen by the seller. Which meant it was back to hunting for a home that checked a few of our boxes. We had already spent the last month looking at houses. If I haven’t said it before, affordable housing in Florida is slim to none. Most of the houses in our price range were either very small or needed so much work, they weren’t worth it.
After a few days of searching, we found a few homes that were ok. One of them sat on half an acre, so it had a nice-sized backyard, two car garage, and four bedrooms. Even though it was only about 1600 sqft they somehow designed it to feel a lot bigger than it really was. While it was nice, it also needed a bit of work, someone put up a wall in the garage. Basically making it unusable as a garage and the plumbing in the kitchen didn’t work. It also had different mismatched flooring throughout the house and only some of the windows were replaced.
The upside to this home though was that it had been on the market for well over a month, and the market at the time meant there would be room to negotiate because of that. The home was owned by Offerpad, I think, so it was priced well over the market value, and had a few flipped features to it, like fresh paint and new carpets in most of the bedrooms.
So, we put in a lowball offer to see what would they would come back with. We were hoping that they would accept the offer so we could finally get into our new Florida home.
