The Medical Evaluation Board has Come to an End
The medical evaluation board has come to an end
The long process of the Air Force medical evaluation board (MEB) has finally come to an end. After waiting for about a month the notes that were written up by the QTC doctor were sent to my base PCM. From there my PCM wrote up more information in areas that were needed, as well as to verify what the QTC doctor diagnosed. The final piece of this million piece puzzle was getting the results from my sleep study, that I underwent inbetween all of these different appointments. And once again it was time to wait for all of the paperwork to be reviewed by Veterans Affairs, and then by the Department of Defense. Once they reviewed the files, a board would once again determine if I was to be retained in the Air Force or be separated.
If I haven’t said it before, this process sucks and I would not wish it on my worst enemy. Knowing that there was the potential of me being separated Bea and I were trying to figure out what to do if I was separated. We knew we were going to move to Florida, somewhere in the Tampa Bay Area where I grew up. Knowing this I set up an internship at he beginning of 2021, but what I didn’t know is that because of me going through an MEB, I wasn’t aloud to participate in the program. Now this isn’t an Air Force rule, this was a base rule, and it was a big blow to our future plans if I was to separated.
After more and more waiting, the results finally came in…I was going to be retired after 10 years of service. My official rating were 40% DoD and 100% P&T VA, which means that I was permeant and total and I would not have to undergo any more QTC exams later on. It was great news that I finally found out my fate, the bad news was that now I had to wait for them to tell me when I would start to out process. Normally this wouldn’t be an issue, but since we were going to be moving it was hard because we had no timeline yet on when we could put our house on the market.
