We Got the House That We Really Wanted!

We Got the House That We Really Wanted!

To get you up to speed, we desperately wanted to find and purchase a home before Liam made his way into the world. And time or the housing market was not on our side. After looking at houses almost every day for two months, we finally put in an offer on another home. This one was located in Brandon, FL. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms, with a two-car garage, and sitting on half an acre of land. It was owned by Offerpad and was on the market for over a month.

Since it had been on the market for so long, we decided to offer $40,000 below the list price, which at the time was pretty ballsy. But we were pretty confident that they would accept it. And we could finally have a home of our own again. Tensions were starting to run even higher as we were still at my parent’s house. Four adults, a toddler, and two giant dogs made for a crowded home. As well as making it hard for my parents to have their own space.

Since we put the offer in on a Friday and it was owned by a corporation, not a family, we knew we would have to wait to hear back. We decided we would look at a few more houses and try to take the weekend to relax. But that is when we got this strange message from our realtor. I wish I could find the actual text. But it was something like the buyer backed out, the inspection went well, going with a different offer. But we had no idea what he was talking about. It had been a solid week or two since we had put in an offer on anything else. I thought maybe that message was meant for someone else.

When I texted our realtor and told him we had no idea what he was talking about. He told me the message was meant for us. And that the home in Riverview that we really wanted was available again. He told us that the offer they went with backed out of the purchase, even though their inspection of the house and septic system all went fine. So instead of listing the house on the market again, the homeowner wanted to offer the home to us. As long as we still wanted to stick with the terms of our original offer, of course, we said yes!

This meant that as long as the inspection went well, we could finally have our own house in Florida.
