After 10 Years I’m Officially Retired
After 10 Years I am Officially Retired
Bea and Jameson were out of the country and I was finally told that I would be receiving my orders any day now. With that knowledge, we were hoping that meant I could get that last-minute ticket to Germany and spend Christmas and New Year with my family. But, in the end, it didn’t happen that way. After I was told I was going to get my orders it took another two weeks after that to get them. Which meant Christmas was over and getting a ticket for New Year to Germany was going to be way out of the budget.
Since I was going to stay in Las Vegas while I was waiting for my orders to be cut and I needed to out process the Air Force, it would give me the time to finally finish all of the home improvement projects I was working on. With the house to myself, it only made sense, also it meant that I could start getting the house ready to put it on the market. There was still a lot of work that needed to be done, mainly painting, but it was a lot. And it all needed to be done in about a month.
Now that my orders were in hand, it was time to figure out when to officially list the house and when I would make my way to Florida with the dogs. Logistically we needed to figure out these dates with Bea still out of town, so we needed to wait for her and Jameson to come back. Figuring out the exact date though would all depend on Bea’s flight as well as when the Air Force would be able to schedule our household goods (HHG) pickup. But, I wouldn’t be able to schedule that until I accomplished most of my out-processing.
Bea and Jameson were due to come back around January 6th, which was perfect because that was a day after I started my terminal and permissive TDY days. These days are basically leave days that I have earned as well 20 extra days to house hunt and get settled into our new location. After waiting on the various offices to do their thing I was able to schedule our HHG to be picked up and stored about a week after Bea and Jameson got back. And since I was able to schedule the HHG pickup, we also decided that we were going to list the house on January 15th. And 10 days later on the 25th the dogs and I, along with my buddy John were going to make our way to Florida. Bea and Jameson, we decided that it was best if they flew, and to make it easier, John’s wife and kids flew with them and turned the trip into a mini-vacation.
The house sold four days after being put on the market and everything was finally falling into place, or so I thought.
